Professor Nebel is an instructor in the doctor of education (Ed.D.) in leadership and learning in organizations program. She has more than ten years of experience teaching in higher education at Washington University in St. Louis, Lindenwood University, and Washburn University, and she has a passion for improving education at all levels. She has worked with diverse student populations, including many first generation students and non-traditional students with competing demands. In her research, she examines techniques to improve student retention, emphasizing learner characteristics and applied settings, and has had her work published in several peer-reviewed journals. In addition to her professional experience, Professor Nebel spreads the science of learning to educators worldwide through her work with the Learning Scientists (learningscientists.org). She publishes frequent blogs and podcasts and has delivered professional development workshops locally, throughout the United States and abroad.
