Sofia Jimenez received her Ph.D. in Psychology and Human Development from Vanderbilt University with a specialization in Developmental Sciences. She received her B.S. in Cognitive Science at UC San Diego. Her graduate work focused on language acquisition and, more specifically, preschoolers’ self-motivated word learning and the abilities that might influence it, such as curiosity, metacognition, selective-trust and existing language ability.
In addition to teaching and research, she has been involved as a child development consultant at Safe Haven Family Shelter.
